Spring!

The cold months of winter have passed and spring is upon us. As we prepare to celebrate Easter next weekend, it's easy to focus on the bunnies, eggs and candy. But, the most amazing thing about Easter is that it commemorates the resurrection of Christ which brought new life to those who believe in Him. That's why I modeled my wreath after this one: Rhonna Designs Wreath

Last month, my aunt Leslie and uncle Russ visited us from Bend, Oregon, and we enjoyed their company at BJ's where our mini family reunion took place. You can seem them with the Robertsons (I'm behind the camera and Dryw must have been my assistant) in the photo below.

Our friends Stephanie and Jeremiah Johnstone dedicated their new baby Marin at church last weekend. Marin looked so beautiful and was so calm considering all the attention she was getting from family, friends and strangers.

You can see a little bit of the process that led to our Easter wreath (I skipped the part about the huge mess of paper scraps and hot glue strings). My sister Ashley and I picked out some supplies at Hobby Lobby including: a twig wreath, burlap, scrapbook paper, embroidery thread, wide ribbon, and paper doilies. I wrapped a long strip of burlap around part of the wreath and cut out a bunch of paper butterflies. We printed letters on sheet music to spell out "He is risen!" and I made mini bunting, as well. After a little hot gluing and lot of mess making, I came out with a fun, eclectic door piece for this season celebrating new life.
